The Lost Tribe

JP Richardson

JP Richardson designs from a place of joy.

And his main goal every Carnival is to take that joy he feels creating his costume and share it with The Lost Tribe masqueraders.

JP has been a constant in The Lost Tribe design collective since the band’s debut in 2016. From year to year, he has presented some of the most dynamic, evocative designs, each different from the next but still with some common motifs running throughout – love, creativity and lots of bling.

After studying and working in the hospitality industry for some time, JP decided to try his hand at costume design in 2010 – not for a band, just to flex his creative boundaries and apply his talent to a new medium.

That personal project, through a discussion at a dinner party, earned him a spot designing for Island People’s 2011 presentation. He continued designing for Island People for four years and also designed for Barbados’ Cropover bands Zulu International, Krave The Band and Xhosa, before beginning his journey with TRIBE and The Lost Tribe for Carnival 2016.

He added Rogue The Band to his design roster in 2017.

When JP is not designing costumes, he’s enjoying his many other creative pursuits – photography, candle making and painting. In 2020 JP put on his first virtual exhibit entitled STAINED – a personal art project he worked on during the early months of the pandemic. It remains one of his proudest achievements to date and he is currently working on an exhibit for 2023.
