The Lost Tribe
There was no way Kriston Milano could have imagined what his life would become, as he just barely met the deadline to apply for TRIBE’s Design Challenge in 2018.
During that competition, where participants vied for an opportunity to design a Carnival costume for TRIBE, Kriston would meet and be mentored by Valmiki Maharaj, Creative Director of The Lost Tribe.
Though Kriston didn’t go on to win the competition, he was invited to design for The Lost Tribe’s presentation of the theme Anansi the following year by Valmiki.
Like his costume that year (Agemo), Kriston is a chameleon. Kriston’s style is versatile – he adapts to the crowd and Carnival he’s designing for. And since 2018, he’s been designing for many.
Through his company, Woii Carnival, Kriston has designed and managed a section for Ramajay Mas (Miami) and Entice Mas (Atlanta Carnival) and will soon be doing the same for Notting Hill Carnival.
His next ambition: to bring Woii Carnival to Trinidad and Tobago and use his background in hospitality to offer his masqueraders a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
